The Balinese have a traditional plant-based beauty recipe called boreh that is used in Komaneka spas. It is a simple, natural body scrub that cleanses and warms the skin and stimulates blood circulation. Older Balinese still prepare it home. Here we share with you Komaneka’s boreh recipe.

Assemble all the ingredients and make sure that they are clean:

100 gr white rice
100 gr fresh ginger
100 gr whole cloves
5 pieces of nutmeg
50 gr cinnamon
50 gr coriander seeds
A little sandalwood

Amounts can be adjusted according to your preference.

Cut them into pieces if needed.
Put all ingredients in a blender. (Older Balinese use a stone mortar and pestle.)
Grind all the ingredients until it forms a fine powder. It is then ready to be used in your beauty routine.

How to Use It:

Mix the boreh powder with water or rose water. (Some use vinegar.)
Spread evenly over your body. For best results, apply after a massage when the muscles are relaxed. The warm feeling will soon spread comfortably over the body as it stimulates the blood circulation.
If it feels too hot, you can add more rice powder.
Make sure to avoid sensitive body parts.
Let it stay on for about 15 to 30 minutes, then rinse and shower with warm water.
